The Oath of the Vayuputras

The Oath of the Vayuputras
This is the third book in the Shiva trilogy after "The Immortals of Meluha" and "The Secret of the Nagas"

At last Shiva seems to have found out who or rather what the true evil is. the book reveals many secrets that we were so longer unaware of : Shiva's elder son turns out to be a Naga, the lord of the land, and the Naga queen is none other than Kali, Sati's twin sister. Shiva's friend for life Brahaspati has come back in the story. He had not died in the accident in Mt Mandar and as a matter of fact, that wasn't an accident at all. Brahaspati had found out that the true evil was the somras and had decided to destroy the prime source of the somras production. Manu's words, "Good and evil are the two sides of the same coin," seems to be pretty much meaningful now as Shiva discovers the evil it had caused for so long- from plagues to the destruction of the river Sarswati , the Somras was behind it all. Shiva is ready to fight this evil and "take it out of the equation". The Vasudevs are on his side. But will he succeed in this war? Especially when Bhrigu, a prime member of the Vayuputra Council , whose name rises terror among the people considers the Neelkanth to be a fraud? Shiva has escaped his 'Daivi  Astras' once. But will he succeed once more? Will the Meluhans, who are addicted to somras give up evil for their faith in the Neelkanth? Things aren't going to be easy for Neelkanth when he is about to fight the biggest evil of the era. Adding to this, the situation gets worse, when Parvateshwar , torn between the path of the living God, the Neelkanth and hi love for Meluha decides to fight for Meluha, his motherland, even if that meant opposing his God.

It is altogether a tremendously action packed page turner that deserves to be read.

In the story there are often situations that can be pretty much linked with the modern day situation, for e.g. the Brahmastra's description given there can be easily identified with modern day nuclear weapon.
